I’ve known Nora for over a decade- her mom, Martha was my first boss! Like first boss ever. Nora’s family owns Howard County favorite, Clark’s Elioak Farm. I worked for 5 years at the petting farm from high school through college. It was some of the happiest years of my life- outdoors every weekend, working with kids and animals on one of the most beautiful pieces of land in the county.
It’s why I was absolutely over-joyed to return to their family property to photograph Nora’s first baby, James. I met them at their house on a very chilly December day. Luckily their sitting room was flooded with natural light and perfect for indoor photos. But when the sun warmed up, we braved the outside for a few minutes. Their sweet dog Ella also joined us and although she was perhaps not thrilled to be sharing the attention with her new human brother, she certainly added a lot of humor to the session. We ended in James’s nursery- the same room where Nora and her brother played as kids. Martha helped paint the furniture and if there was any doubt about the big toys James will one day get to play with, his room is adorned with plenty of tractors to practice with until he can get on the big ones!
