Chania’s Senior Photos at Lake Kittamaqundi

Chania has been my neighbor for a few years now. When I first met her she was probably a freshmen in highschool. Her mom and I swap gardening tips over the deck, especially since the pandemic and when she put out a “Proud Hammond High School Graduate, Class of 2020” sign in the front yard I was stunned! A senior already? I couldn’t believe it. Similarly, to Katharine, Chania also had a prom dress sitting in her closet, unloved and unworn. So we decided to do a sunrise session at Lake Kittamaqundi.

Chania was on the high school dance team and it really showed during her session. She has a natural grace and pose that came across when I asked her to walk for me. You can tell she knows her angles! My favorite thing about photographing Chania though was her “in-between moments”. While setting the next pose, she would go to fix her hair and it resulted in some of my favorite images- candids that show her personality and just the right amount of attitude.
