Kim and Tam’s MGM Grand Wedding at National Harbor in Washington D.C. was in a word, stunning.
Kim booked me for their engagement photos last spring before they even book their wedding. We were on a time crunch due to Tam’s travel schedules. Instantly we clicked. Kim is a woman with a vision and a heart of gold. She also had a challenge for me- a day jam packed with travel, tight turn arounds and a lot of details to accomplish. They started their day at the MGM Grand Hotel in National Harbor which is where they shared their getting ready and first looks. Then we traveled to Arlington for their ceremony (please note her second dress!). Then we crossed back into DC for portraits along the Potomac. Is anything more romantic than wedding portraits with the Washington Monument in the distance?
Finally we drove to Rockville Maryland for their reception at China Garden. This is where more of the their Vietnamese traditions began. I really appreciated Kim and Tam sharing parts of their culture with me – it’s one of my favorite parts of being a wedding photographer. I’m given the great honor of joining families for milestone events and share in their joy. And in the case of this wedding, as we started table rounds, the joy became ecstatic. I loved all the silly ways friends and family made Kim and Tam “earn” their red envelopes- almost as much as I loved Kim’s change into her third dress of the evening!
Their wedding was a dream, romantic, classic, and rather D.C. in it’s modern style. And my favorite part? Two weeks after their wedding, I had another session with them and their immediate families! I have to admit- I think every couple should do a photoshoot right after their wedding because it was so nice seeing them again!
