Engagement Session

This was a once a year session. We sessions carefully, we watch the weather and sometimes adjust accordingly. In the fall we time our sessions to the leaves. We do everything we can to have perfect light and scenery.

And sometimes we get magic.

The light in the first few images is rare. Its buttery soft, warm but still pretty clear- its not super yellow or orange. This is true sunrise in the fall light. And then there was a little bit of mist coming up from the ground. All of this played so perfectly with the white stone of Jerusalem Mill, and Ashley’s bright blonde hair, and contrasted with the bright red of her dress and deep blue of Wes’s shirt. It all worked and the toughest thing about photography is you can put all the elements together, and plan everything perfectly but sometimes magic is just magic and you can’t control it.

Ashley and Wes (and Leo) were total naturals. They got silly when I asked, and totally went along with my ridiculous prompts. And when I asked them to ignore me, and kiss like I wasn’t there- woah. And Leo was amazing. He was so excited by everything but they brought a friend who’s only job was to manage him. We brought him in for a few shots, and then let him go sniff around for a bit.

I can’t wait for their wedding next year because I already know they are going to be a stunning bridal couple and if this is the emotional connection we get on their engagement session, the wedding vibes are going to be that much more!
