I love newborn sessions because they almost always take place in the client’s home. It’s a personal look at an intimate moment- when a new baby has been brought home and the family has expanded.
Sam and Shawn live in Monrovia Maryland, 15 minutes outside Frederick. I’ve been so lucky to join Sam now for multiple life events. Sam and I have shot dozens of weddings together and she and Shawn were guests at our wedding. Heck I helped photograph her wedding! When their daughter Maddie turned one I photographed that so it felt so nice to join them as the welcomed Alex home.
Maddie was about two years old when Alex came home. It’s so fun to see how different kids react to their new sibling. Maddie was both super excited about his arrival but also not overly interested. In fairness, new born babies are not yet the fun playmate. But she was gentle with him and was so happy to introduce me to her new brother. She was more excited to show off her stuffed animals and read with Mom. And no family session would be complete without a few photos of the family pet- Nugget. He may be an old man but his puppy comes out for his two human siblings. He keeps watch over the family and seems so happy to be big brother to his human siblings.
